My friends often ask me when we’re hanging out, “Why do you take so many pictures?” I usually tell them, “to capture the great moments that we share.” Over the years I have been blessed to travel around the world and throughout our great country. Growing up in the college town of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, I had no idea that my life will carry me to Clemson University in 2014. A born and raised Alabama football fan I attended college at the heart of Clemson and Alabama’s championship rivalry. What a time to be alive, making friends and exploring the South Carolina countryside, graduating from a top Architecture program, in 2018, and of course celebrating four national championships between the two schools. However, life throws you a curve ball every now and then, and when you are living your best life, sometimes you find yourself quickly living your worst life. For two years following graduation, I found myself unemployed, back home, poor health, financial struggles, the passing of love ones, and my dear aunt stricken by a near death illness that required me and my mom’s full attention. To add insult to injury, the Covid pandemic began shortly after all of these things. But I never gave up on my dreams, and I continued to use my photography to capture the good moments, the beautiful days and nights, that inspire me. I worked with youth and elders in the church and community, to inspire them as well. Always holding on to my faith and being thankful for the beautiful days that came, God prepared a blessing for me. My dream of living in Nashville came true, with an opportunity to attend a wonderful prestigious Christian affiliated University right in the heart of Nashville, Belmont University. I am study a Masters of Science in Strategic Communication and Leadership.
Today I am embarking on one year of working at the Belmont Mansion, as a Historic Interpreter, and I am nearing the conclusion of my program by next spring. My classmates and new friends, have all been an inspiration to me this year and they have made this journey truly special. As part of my Branding and Influence course, I am required to create a personal brand. My goal is to use my brand to inspire people through photography and spoken words. Using my poetry, and devotional scriptures, I hope people can see and create a lens that inspires and motivates them. As we live in a world of uncertainty and a nation crippled by its division, I want to help people find a way to view life in its simplest form, enjoying the beauty around us and putting all of life’s trials in a distant past. In order for people to achieve this they must remember to be who they were made to be. Always be inspired, be you, be great, be simply original.
